A downtown hotel with a close connection to nature and a commitment to sustainability and accessibility
This three-and-a-half-star hotel has been recognised for its commitment to environmental sustainability.
Ibis has a commitment to being accessible and the entrance to the hotel via Featherston Street has automated sliding doors and no steps and an elevator that goes to all floors. The lobby has plenty of space for manoeuvring a wheelchair and staff are available 24-7 to help with accessibility assistance.
All of the Ibis’ rooms have a contemporary feel and are air-conditioned, with Sky Television, free WiFi, tea and coffee-making facilities and a minibar. The rooms are a good balance of comfort and quality – everything you need when you’re in Wellington for work or a weekend away.
To celebrate this exhibition, Ibis Wellington are offering a Surrealist Art Package, which includes accommodation, breakfast and general admission tickets for up to two to Surrealist Art between 12 June - 30 October 2021.
Very local ingredients
What do you call a Wellington hotel with its own beehive? The ‘I-bees Wellington’. Jokes aside, the Ibis Wellington does indeed have beehives on the roof and the harvested honey is used in the hotel's restaurant, Vivant!
This restaurant and bar is located within Ibis Wellington and is open daily for breakfast lunch and dinner.
Head chef Shweta Gate (formerly of Hippopotamus) creates menus using seasonal produce and fresh local ingredients - as well as the honey, Vivant! has access to a local herb garden for the kitchen’s daily use.The fresh honey, herbs and edible flowers are all put to excellent use to create dishes that are beautifully presented.
On Your Doorstep
Despite the beehive, Ibis Wellington is located in downtown Wellington. Though of course, in Wellington you’re never far from nature – the sparkling waterfront is just minutes from the sparkling Wellington waterfront and the Town Belt is within walking distance.
Ibis is super close to Wellington’s top attractions: Te Papa, Wellington Cable Car and Cuba Street and you’ve got some of Wellington’s favourite shopping right on your doorsteps including David Jones and Old Bank Arcade.
