Always innovating
This four-and-a-half-star hotel has long been a favourite Wellington hotel, but it doesn’t rest on its good reputation.
The hotel is constantly evolving to meet guests’ changing needs – their Harbour View Lounge on level 26 offer guests a premium private space to wind down and relax. Sit and take in the jaw-dropping views over the harbour as you enjoy an espresso coffee during the day.
Booking one of the Deluxe Rooms for your stay will ensure you get to enjoy the James Cook Harbour View Lounge and a touch of luxe with a deluxe turn-down service including tea and house-made cookies, complimentary guest ironing, Forest & Bird’s Botanical Skincare range and a welcome snack platter.
If you don’t have access to the Harbour View Lounge, James Cook offers plenty of other spaces with two restaurants and bars, and an on-site fitness room.
Each room has complimentary WiFi, Sky Television, in-house movies, full minibar and tea and coffee-making facilities.
High tea above the city
Don’t miss the wonderful high tea experience at Whitby’s Restaurant & Bar with incredible views out over the city. You’ll be served tiered cake stands full of freshly-made scones with jam and cream, club sandwiches and other afternoon tea delights along with your choice of tea infusions or a glass of bubbles.
Nurturing Nature
James Cook has a one-off partnership with local ecosanctuary Zealandia Te Māra a Tāne where $2 from every Wellington room night booked through their website is donated to the ecosanctuary’s conservation effort.
This is just one of the ways that this well-established old-favourite Wellington hotel is doing right by the environment. James Cook has an on-staff ‘green team’ who are always looking for new ways to reduce the hotel’s environmental footprint – like donating the hotel's surplus food and using sustainable packaging.
On your doorstep
With so many wonderful in-hotel experiences you might find it hard to leave James Cook during your stay, but if you can tear yourself away, take a trip to Zealandia to see what you’ve helped to support. Located in an idyllic valley just 10 minutes from the CBD, you’ll feel like you’ve stepped into another world as you encounter native and rare wildlife amidst beautiful native New Zealand bush.
James Cook is sandwiched between The Terrace and Lambton Quay meaning that all of Wellington’s top attractions are within easy walking distance and top restaurants, bars, venues and shopping are on your doorstep.
