Great Sounds Great music festival in Wellington

One ticket gets you access to ten venues and 40 artists. Great Sounds Great is back and it’s out to celebrate the alternative music community with the biggest party in Pōneke. The music and art festival will please everyone, from novice gig-goers to devoted music lovers. National treasure Bic Runga leads the lineup, joined by crowd favourite Savage, heavy hitters Beastwars, electro-pop Silicon, and Māori bass artist Mokotron. Artists will play iconic Wellington venues including Meow Nui, San Fran and Valhalla. Between sets, catch local poets spinning yarns.

Eyegum Music Collective are the crew behind the festival. Established in 2021, Great Sounds Great is their flagship event and has grown in popularity every year. Looking for a warm-up? Eyegum created a mini festival named The Night Before. On 4 September 12 artists take over Newtown music venues before the action moves to Great Sounds Great in the city the following night.
