Experience the sights, sounds, and flavours of the Pacific. With over 15,000 people attending each year, the Wellington Pasifika Festival is a standout event for the regional and national calendar. This free, family-friendly festival celebrates the unique Pacific communities here in Wellington. There will be a special opening ceremony at midday, followed by live music and performances. Dotted around Waitangi Park, you’ll find stalls, a Kids’ Zone, stone carving, workshops, and plenty of delicious food.
The younger ones can pick up a festival passport from the Kids’ Zone and collect stamps to win special prizes. Enjoy a festival experience based on the card game ‘Lalaga’, designed by Torisse Lalau, which uses Pasifika wisdom (talanoa) to foster empathy and connection through sharing stories.
The theme for 2026 is ‘Arrival’ — a celebration of and a welcome to the Pasifika communities who have made New Zealand their home. Grab your friends and and come along to soak up the island vibes and cultural celebrations.
