SYSTEM OF A DOWN Announces Exclusive Concert in Wellington

Wellington’s summer schedule is getting a rockin’ new addition, with Armenian-American heavy metal band SYSTEM OF A DOWN bringing an exclusive show to Wellington’s Hnry Stadium on Sunday 7 February 2027.

The GRAMMY Award-winning band, famous for its heavy hitters across albums including Toxicity and Mezmerize, will play their fan favourites at the only New Zealand show scheduled in the Australasian tour, and the first tour in the country in over a decade.

It follows the sell-out success of their recent EU/UK Summer Stadium Tour, with back-to-back sell outs in Paris, London, and Warsaw.

The opening act has been named as American rock band FAITH NO MORE, who last played in New Zealand over 10 years ago. Their greatest hits include Epic, We Care a Lot and Falling to Pieces.

Warrick Dent, Chief Executive at Hnry Stadium, says: "We’re thrilled to bring SYSTEM OF A DOWN to Hnry Stadium for an exclusive New Zealand show. We’re proud to be bringing world-class events to the capital, and SYSTEM OF A DOWN are undoubtedly a must-see act for all rock fans.

“We’ll be welcoming fans from across the country through the gates for this one, which is sure to be an unforgettable experience for all.”

Wellington has hosted a range of well-attended rock and metal concerts over the years, including AC/DC’s Black Ice Tour in 2010, Queen + Adam Lambert’s The Rhapsody Tour in 2020 and the Guns N’ Roses We’re F’N Back! Tour in December 2022.

Heidi Morton, WellingtonNZ GM Events & Experiences adds: “New Zealand has a strong rock and metal fanbase, and we’re confident of a sell-out crowd at Hnry Stadium.

“With the concert over Waitangi weekend, visitors can enjoy more of Wellington. One night you're headbanging, the next you're grabbing a beer on Cuba Street, browsing for vinyl, and swapping the band tee for boardies while getting sun at the beach. That's a great Wellington weekend, and we're looking forward to welcoming people from across the motu.”

The event is supported by the government’s Events Attraction Package and the WellingtonNZ Major Events team.

Tickets will go on sale to the general public at 11am on Friday 31 July at Ticketek.
