Major drivers of economic impact for the capital city and surrounding region include events, tourism, business development and creative technology.
The Force is strong in Wellington. LEGO® Star Wars™: The Exhibition at Tākina Wellington Convention and Exhibition Centre has been extended through to 8 February 2027 after a positive response from fans and families across the nation.
This exhibition is proudly supported by the Government’s Events Attraction Package and WellingtonNZ’s Major Events Fund.
Since opening on 27 June, the exhibition has become one of Wellington's most popular attractions. It isn't going anywhere just yet, and the new pricing introduced over the school holidays is staying put for the rest of the run. Adult tickets remain at $29.90 and family tickets at $89.
Mark Oldershaw, Chief Executive at WellingtonNZ, says: "Wellington has blown us away. The Force is strong down here, so we are pleased to be able to extend the exhibition so even more people can enjoy it. This will enable more out-of-town holiday makers, cruise guests and locals to discover the exhibition over Summer."
LEGO Certified Professional Ryan "Brickman" McNaught, the master builder behind the exhibition, is returning to Welington for Visit Our Outpost, a free family fun day at Tākina on Saturday 21 November, from 10am to 3pm.
Fans can meet Brickman in person, grab a photo and an autograph, and purchase a signed book. The day also features a Star Wars themed craft station, facepainting, roving characters from the 501st Legion, lightsaber displays, battle workshops and a Star Wars trivia activity.
Visit Our Outpost is free to attend, with exhibition entry available separately from Ticketek.co.nz or the Tākina box office.
For fans looking to experience the exhibition without the kids, a series of After Hours events are coming to Tākina on three Thursday evenings; 12 November, 10 December and 14 January. Enjoy a drink and shared grazing platters with friends to a curated playlist, then explore the exhibition at your own pace. Tickets are $79 per person and include a complimentary drink and shared grazing platters on arrival, with a cash bar available throughout the evening.
