In a valley between the dense green hills of Wainuiomata, 30 kilometres from Wellington and 10km from Lower Hutt, sits Camp Wainuiomata. The campground offers accommodation with a lodge complex, various huts, and tent and caravan sites.
Much of the campground’s 240 hectares has mature and regenerating bush. There’s also a mixture of short, easy walks and longer, more challenging hikes. Some of the tracks lead to the nearby Remutaka Forest Park.
The property also features grassed fields, a lagoon for swimming or canoeing, and a ropes course. Wainuiomata Golf Course is also nearby.
Management staff live on-site with their families.
