The three members of Kneecap pose in red light.

A blend of Irish-language rap and sharp social commentary has built an international following for Kneecap . The hip-hop trio, made up of Mo Chara, Móglaí Bap, and DJ Próvaí, made a name for itself with raucous live performances. Formed in Belfast in 2017, Kneecap’s popularity skyrocketed following the release of the 2024 biographical film ‘Kneecap’ in which the group’s members each played themselves. Their previous visit to Wellington in 2025 was described by The Post as “explosive”, with the crowd eating out of the palm of their hand from the moment they took the stage.

That tour was followed in 2026 by the release of third album ‘Fenian’ which has seen the group expand its sound to something darker and even more controversial. The trio will be joined in Wellington’s TSB Arena in February by Aotearoa’s own DJ, producer, and artist Lady Shaka. Expect a night of high-energy hip-hop, razor-sharp lyrics, and one of the most talked-about live shows on the touring circuit.
