You’ll definitely feel better if you come and have a sing with a few thousand strangers. That’s what New Zealand-born vocalist, conductor, and composer Astrid Jorgensen thinks. Astrid is the brainchild behind the touring show Pub Choir — Just Think About It. The premise is simple — come to the Michael Fowler Centre on 19 August and learn one popular song in three-part harmony. What began as a small gathering in a pub has now grown to fill concert halls around the world. No prior training is required — just bring your voice and a sense of humour.
Astrid established Pub Choir in Brisbane in 2017. Her work associated with the show has gone on to win her several awards. This includes one of the 40 Under 40 Most Influential Asian-Australians by the Asian-Australian Leadership Summit in 2021 and a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in 2023.
