About the trail

As the name suggests, 4 Degrees is a leisurely climb up to Old Coach Road, the first road ever built between Lower Hutt and Porirua.

4 Degrees is mostly used by uphill bikers and walkers travelling in both directions. It offers an easier ride than the alternative route along Slogger Logger (a 4WD track).

The sign at the bottom of the 4 degrees Track in Belmont Regional Park. The sign reads '4 Degrees Track, Old Coach Road 3km and Hill Road 4.5km.' There are symbols that show walkers and bikes are welcome, but no horses.
  • You can start the trail at the Stratton Street entrance to Belmont Regional Park which climbs up to Old Coach Road, or from the Normandale Road entrance
  • There are regular bus and train services to Lower Hutt and the surrounding area. Timetables are available from the Metlink website.
