TEEKS with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra

TEEKS, one of the most heartfelt and compelling voices in modern soul, performs for the first time with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra

When Te Karehana Gardiner-Toi, better known as TEEKS (Ngāpuhi, Ngāi Te Rangi, Ngāti Ranginui), released his debut EP, The Grapefruit Skies, in 2017, jaws around Aotearoa dropped.

Between his smooth, expressive voice and smouldering stage presence, TEEKS quickly became a favourite on the local arts festival circuit. The Grapefruit Skies and his breakthrough singles "If Only" and "Never Be Apart" were quickly followed by performances throughout Australia and the UK. He gained several prestigious local music awards and nominations along the way, most notably Best Māori Artist at the Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards.

I’m extremely excited to experience the grandeur and the might of the NZSO. I feel like this is going to be really special

TEEKS

This June, TEEKS will realise a long-held dream, performing live with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra.

Over three nights in Wellington, he will perform many of his best-known and loved songs, from "If Only" to the more recent spine-tingling singalongs "Younger" and "Oil & Water". All reimagined in an ornate and expansive symphonic soul mode by the NZSO and their Principal Conductor-in-Residence Hamish McKeich.
