Opening hours

For any ticketed events, the box office opens 60 minutes before the event start time. At the box office you can buy tickets, arrange ticket collection, and resolve any ticketing issues.

Accessibility

Wheelchair access

  • The Michael Fowler Centre has eight accessible spaces and eight companion seats located in the stalls on the ground floor of the venue.
  • Elevator access is available from the ground floor.
  • Wheelchairs are available at the venue but require you to give advanced notice so they can ensure they are on-site during the event.
  • The gallery is not wheelchair accessible.

Visually impaired

  • Guide dogs are welcome at the Michael Fowler Centre.
  • Some shows may offer audio-described performances and touch tours.
  • If you need additional assistance at the venue, ask our friendly staff who are trained to help.

Hearing impaired

  • The Michael Fowler Centre has an audio loop for hearing-impaired patrons. The most suitable seating locations for the audio loop are Stall seating, rows O-V and Gallery seating, rows A-D (all blocks).
  • Some shows may offer sign-language-interpreted performances for some shows.

Parking and public transport

  • The Michael Fowler Centre does not have public parking available, but there is convenient street parking and parking buildings nearby. You can find parking options on Parkopedia.
  • There is a drop-off and pick-up area at the front of the building, accessible from Wakefield Street.
  • There are Metlink bus stops in the area.

Earthquake Prone Building notice

The Michael Fowler Centre is currently rated as an Earthquake Prone Building (EQPB) by Wellington City Council and has been given a ‘yellow notice’. This means that the building is safe to occupy and the owners (Wellington City Council) have a set number of years to strengthen the building.
