Bret McKenzie holds a tuba with a pensive expression.

Join two major Wellington talents for an afternoon of musical delights. The Michael Fowler Centre hosts a collaborative show for the whole family. ‘Air Force in Concert with Bret McKenzie’ includes kid-friendly hits from Flight of the Conchords, The Muppets, The Black Seeds, and Brett's recent album. The band plays tunes ranging from symphonic favourites and toe-tapping marches to movie classics and pop hits. There’s a rumour that a sousaphone will be one of the instruments that makes an appearance. Expect laughs, expect brass, expect philosophical lyrics like “life’s a fillet of fish”.

Bret is best known as one half of the internationally celebrated comedy duo Flight of the Conchords. He formed it with Jemaine Clement in 1998. Since then, he’s become a Grammy and Academy Award-winning songwriter and performer. Known for crafting witty and wonderful songs. The Royal New Zealand Air Force Band is a reserve force military band based in Wellington. They perform regularly to welcome dignitaries at the Government House and Parliament. They also provide music for parades and commemorations at Pukeahu National War Memorial.

The band has about sixty people in it or something bonkers like that.
