Courtenay Carnival

Celebrate Wellington’s unique spirit at a big New Year’s Eve party in the city’s entertainment district. Courtenay Carnival is set to bring thousands together for a vibrant, free, family-friendly celebration in the heart of the city. This year, Courtenay Place, Allen Street, and Blair Street will be closed from 6 am on 31 December until 6 am on 1 January 2026, creating space for a street party with live music, colour, and community energy. 

The New Year’s Eve event will feature a dynamic entertainment lineup across multiple stages, showcasing exciting performers from Aotearoa. Headline acts include Indigenous rockers Bitterly Divine, afrobeat/jazz dance collective Star Time, party legends Loveshack, and late-night brass band Saxy Time. Local favourites Wellington Batucada and Estudio de Samba Wellington bring big rhythm and colour. Drag artists, circus performers, entertainment for kids, and MC Mamaeroa Munn (Mo) keep the energy high all night.
