Grand Kyiv Ballet of Ukraine

After a successful tour last year, The Grand Kyiv Ballet of Ukraine returns to Wellington to serve up a night of classical ballet. Founded in 2014, the ballet company has spent a decade touring extensively throughout the world. America, China, Europe, Scandinavia, and South America have all had a chance to see technical excellence and soulful expression on display. 

The first piece, ‘Forest Song’, is a magical love story. Full of mysticism it captures the conflict between the human world and nature. Based on a Ukrainian folk tale, the ballet has been a source of national pride for over 75 years. ‘Don Quixote’ in the second act is a flamboyant and festive Spanish ballet. The much-loved romantic comedy involves lavish costumes and breathtaking dancers.
