Marlon Williams.

The Michael Fowler Centre is set for a visit by the alt-country/folk musician and his band, The Yarra Benders. The tour is called Tā te Manawa — it literally means ‘heart at rest’. This references Marlon’s wish to take a break after a particularly busy and productive few years.

Fans will get two sets of songs across the evening. The first comprises songs from Marlon’s latest album ‘Te Whare Tīwekaweka’. The second delves into repertoire from his first album and bits of everything in between. Marlon explains the reason for the break, “For nearly 20 years I’ve explored both the physical and musical world in the company of incredible musicians, songwriters and friends. The catch with it is — it can be easy to overlook the toll it can take over time, on body and soul.” Fair not though, this is only a hiatus. Marlon describes it as a cheerful hurrah, “a see you soon of sorts.”
