Shayne P Carter.

It’s an amalgamation of two musical worlds, and the result is set to be mesmerising. Shayne P Carter has been active on the New Zealand popular music scene since 1979. The singer-songwriter has penned many great tunes. Now, some of those tunes are getting an orchestral treatment thanks to the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. REforms reimagines ten of Shayne’s songs in magical orchestra colour.

With arrangements by Tane Upjohn Beatson and conducted by Hamish McKeich, the concert promises to enhance Shayne’s songs through a new lens while keeping their original integrity. Classic songs like Randolph’s Going Home and If I Were You sit alongside new numbers like Left To Defend. Songs from Shayne’s solo album Offsider also feature.

Shayne is best known for leading indie rock band Straitjacket Fits from 1986 to 1994, and rock band Dimmer (1995–2012). He is a member of the New Zealand Music Hall of Fame and the recipient of several Aotearoa Music Awards.
