Widely regarded as one of the foremost songwriters of her generation, Suzanne Vega emerged as a leading figure of the folk revival of the early 1980s. Four decades later, she is still writing and singing great songs. In her Wellington show, Suzanne will perform a career-spanning set. See her on stage at St James Theatre performing favourites like Tom’s Diner, Luka, Marlene On The Wall, and plenty more. There’ll also be new songs from her 2025 album, ‘Flying with Angels’. Joining her on stage will be longtime guitarist, Gerry Leonard, and cellist Stephanie Winters.
Since the release of her self-titled, critically acclaimed 1985 debut album, Suzanne Vega has played to sold-out concerts across the world. She is a masterful storyteller who, according to one The New York Times critique, “observes the world with a clinically poetic eye.” Her song lyrics often focus on city life, ordinary people, and real-world subjects. They are notably succinct, understated, and immediately recognisable.
Veteran alt-rocker Suzanne Vega is still making great music... It’s not an exaggeration to call her a straight-up legend.
