About the trail

The Muritai Park and Kāeaea tracks pass through mature forest to the Eastbourne viewpoint on the MacKenzie Road Track. If you want to soak up the views, follow the Kāeaea track to the top. From there you can venture on to other trails to carry on exploring the eastern hills.

Getting there

  • The trail starts from Muritai Park in Eastbourne, near 259-261 Muritai Road.
  • There are regular bus and ferry services to Eastbourne and the surrounding areas. Timetables are available from the Metlink and East by West Ferries
