Kids Night Walks at Zealandia

Experience the sights and sounds of ZEALANDIA at night! Kids’ Night Walks are a fun and adventurous experience for families with younger children (minimum age 5) to witness the nocturnal species that only come out at night.

Did you know that ZEALANDIA is home to at least 150 Little Spotted Kiwi! See if you can find one! The tours are 1.5 hours and take place on mostly flat and easy walking tracks. You’ll need to dress up warmly, wear your sneakers or gumboots and bring a waterproof jacket with you, as the tours proceed rain or shine.

Giselle Clarkson, of New Zealand biscuit drawing fame, loves drawing food.  She's recently finished drawing lots of fantastic food for Alexandra Tylee's latest cookbook, 'Egg and Spoon: an illustrated cookbook', a beautiful illustrated cookbook for children—and adults—that celebrates imagination, confidence and the fun of cooking.

Join Giselle at Johnsonville Library for an illustration workshop where she'll show you how to draw your favourite food and share her tips and tricks to make food look as appetising on the page as it does on the plate, it's harder than you might think.

Then head to the library's cafe Common Ground to make a recipe from the Egg and Spoon cookbook, Sesame Noodles with Cucumber.

A young girl Nixie has just moved into the neighbourhood and a retired magician NahNah is back from her world travels. Each alone in their homes, with a longing to write and connect with someone – their letters go on an adventurous journey, making their way to The Lost Letter Office. Can the Lost Letter bumbling sleuths help the letters on their way? Or will their letters be enveloped in their snail-mail chaos forever? 

The Lost Letter Office is a love letter to handwritten letters. Using magic, movement, music and clown performance, it explores how these paper creations can deliver powerful gifts of love.
