Relive the highs and bitter lows of one of the most beloved comedians and writers of all time. Eric Idle sits down to tell his incredible life story, live on stage at the St James Theatre in Wellington. From the giddy heights of Monty Python success to the trauma of childhood — this is unscripted and candid. The audience will also get the chance to put their own questions to him live on stage.

An Evening of Idle Conversation covers sixty years of show business. Eric will recall memories of the friends he has loved and lost including Graham Chapman, George Harrison, and Robin Williams. He’ll also cover fortunes made and squandered, feuds, reunions, a brush with cancer, and why, at 83, he is still looking on the bright side of life.

Along with five other comics Eric formed Month Python in 1969. The troupe’s absurdist sketches continue to influence comedy more fifty years later. Eric is perhaps most famous for writing the song Always Look on the Bright Side of Life, The Rutles (the world’s first mockumentary), and the musical Spamalot.
