Every spring, Aston Norwood Gardens in Upper Hutt transforms into a fairytale wonderland. More than 350 sakura cherry blossom trees burst into bloom around the expansive gardens. By day, the entire landscape blushes pink. It’s the perfect spot for a date or a family day out.

As night draws near, the garden takes on a different kind of magic with Blossom Valley After Dark. The delicate canopy is lit in otherworldly shades of violet, rose, and gold. Hot chocolates and sweet treats will warm your hands, and you can even toast marshmallows over small outdoor fires.

While the team at Blossom Valley do their best to ensure an incredible experience, the timing of the bloom is up to Mother Nature. Keep an eye on the Aston Norwood Facebook page for updates.

If it feels like stepping into a dream, that’s because it started as one. After a trip to Japan, Aston Norwood owners Mark and Fiona Rammell were inspired to plant hundreds of cherry blossom trees on the property. Decades later, their vision has flourished into Blossom Valley, New Zealand’s largest collection of mature cherry blossom trees.
