Expect soaring harmonies, a dynamic live show, and feel-good vibes when Mel Parsons performs live in Wellington this September. With a style that ranges from indie folk to alt-country, the Kiwi artist has established a reputation for moving songwriting.
The tour repertoire is based around songs from her latest album, Castle Hill. Named after the remote mountain town in the Southern Alps where it was recorded, Castle Hill was recorded live with Mel’s longtime band members, Aaron Stewart on bass and Jed Parsons on drums. It also includes Ben King (guitarist from Goldenhorse and Grand Rapids). They will support her on stage too. Singles from the record that you’ll hear include alt radio chart toppers, Post High Slide, Brick By Brick, Be Here Now, and Grain by Grain.
Since her first album in 2009, Mel has established herself in New Zealand’s musical landscape. Awards include Best Folk Artist (2020 New Zealand Music Awards) and Best Country Music Song (2016 New Zealand Music Awards).
Parsons and her band are world-class — immaculate renditions of immaculate songs.
