Tragic pop-musical Miss Saigon hasn’t played Wellington in over 15 years. Fabulous soloists, a 40-strong local choir, and a live orchestra are rectifying that in 2027. G&T Productions brings a semi-staged concert to the Michael Fowler Centre. This format puts the performers and music front and centre. Set during the final days of the Vietnam War in 1975, Miss Saigon is a heartbreaking, bold, and gripping musical theatre piece.

From the songwriting team behind ‘Les Misérables’, Miss Saigon is a tragic love story of a young Vietnamese woman (Kim) who falls in love with an American soldier (Chris). Saigon falls, and their story unfolds alongside the Engineer, a ruthless survivor chasing his own ‘American Dream’.

Wellingtonian Maya Handa Naff plays Kim. She has previously sung the role in the United States. Maya is an actor, director, and teacher whose Wellington performance credits include ‘Wicked’ (Glinda) and ‘Les Misérables’ (Eponine). Director and actor Kyle Chuen plays Chris. Laurence Mossman returns as Thuy after performing the part on Australian and international tours. Expect to hear songs like I’d Give My Life for You, Why God Why, and Bui Doi.
