This Halloween, step beyond the ordinary and discover The Opera House as you’ve never seen it.

Bring the kids to a spooky self-guided treasure hunt through one of Wellington’s most iconic venues. At The Opera House, you’ll find hidden clues, curious characters, and Halloween surprises around every corner. 

There’ll be eerie lighting, mysterious props, and a spooky atmosphere. Young explorers will be invited to follow the trail, solve puzzles, and uncover secrets hidden within this magical building. Along the way, they’ll encounter a cast of mysterious characters who may offer clues, set challenges, or cause a little mischief. 

Designed for children aged 12 and under, accompanied by an adult, it’s a fun-filled Halloween adventure for the whole family. Explore backstage spaces, winding corridors, and hidden corners of the theatre. No two journeys are quite the same, with plenty to discover as you make your way through the building. 

Are you brave enough to enter The Opera House and complete the Haunted Hunt? Come in costume, bring your sense of adventure, and prepare to see the theatre in a whole new light.

Accessibility and safety

  • Children aged 14 and under must be supervised at all times by a parent or caregiver over the age of 18 attending the tour with the child.
  • You need a good level of mobility to go on this tour. You will be walking through foyers, stairways, and spaces. While there are railings and several rests throughout the tour, you will not have the opportunity to sit for a long period during the event.
  • This tour is currently not accessible for wheelchair users. If you are a wheelchair user, or have other accessibility needs, and would like to attend a tour, please contact us at guestexperience@wellingtonnz.com
  • Closed-toe, flat shoes are required for the tour. No heels or open-toe shoes.
