Benjamin Clementine — Back To Basics Tour

British singer, pianist, composer and actor Benjamin Clementine has forged a unique creative language. It brings together contemporary classical composition, experimental songwriting, theatrical performance and poetic lyricism. Now, for the first time, he visits New Zealand as part of the Wellington Jazz Festival. For his ‘Back To Basics Tour’ he returns to the essence of his artistry — that being one piano, one voice and songs presented without distraction. This allows his music to take centre stage. These performances reveal the emotional intensity, spontaneity and musicianship that have become the hallmarks of his live work. 

Since the release of his acclaimed debut album, ’At Least For Now’, Benjamin has performed on many of the world’s most celebrated stages, including the Montreux and North Sea Jazz Festivals and major concert halls. A Mercury Prize winner, he has been described in a review for The Guardian as “Bold, brave, beautiful, and at times quite brilliant.”
